In fair condition, with a very attractive overall appearance. Some slight foxing and marginal browning of the paper, which is original and consistent with its age. Presented in a frame with a twisted mold made of stained and gilded wood, featuring an elegant Marie-Louise mat enhanced with a sea-green border, which superbly highlights the verticality of the ensemble. 
A rare and remarkable historical set comprising four original engravings (executed in etching and burin on period paper) forming a continuous narrative sequence depicting the end of the reign of Louis XVI. Published in Germany between 1792 and 1793, these precious iconographic documents provide a real-time account of the astonishment and fascination that the French Revolution inspired throughout the German and European states. 
Each print faithfully depicts a key episode in the royal drama:

The Arrest / The Return from Varennes (1792): An interior scene showing the deposed monarch surrounded by National Guardsmen and members of the Convention. 

Imprisonment at the Temple: Depiction of the king in his cell, maintaining his dignity despite the deprivation of his liberty. 

The Trial before the National Convention (December 1792): Louis XVI facing his judges and his defense attorneys (Malesherbes, Tronchet, De Sèze) during the reading of the indictment. 

The Execution at the Place de la Révolution (January 21, 1793): View of the scaffold, the guillotine, and the royal carriage surrounded by armed troops.
