Large Napoleon III Cabinet
Important rosewood display cabinet with a back panel – Napoleon III period
Important display cabinet with a back panel from the Napoleon III period, made of wood and what is believed to be rosewood veneer.
This piece features an elegant curved front opening with two glass doors, framed by rich carved ornamentation of scrolls, foliage, flowers, volutes, and rocaille motifs. The interior includes several shelves for displaying a collection of objects.
The upper section is crowned by an imposing, openwork, and dynamically shaped pediment, adorned with beveled mirrors and extensive carved decoration in high relief. The sides of the cabinet are also curved and glazed.
A beautiful piece of cabinetry, particularly decorative and characteristic of the opulent taste of the second half of the 19th century.
Condition: marks, scratches, and wear consistent with its age. Minor historical restorations and touch-ups may be required. Of note: a missing piece on a carved element on the left side of the pediment, as well as a small missing piece at the end of a scroll on the right side. A few minor imperfections and flaws are visible in the photographs.
