British Wwi Trench Lighter, The Cotton Powder Co. Ltd., London
An exceptional and authentic World War I folk art lighter, crafted from salvaged military parts. The central body, made of checkered hardened cast iron, comes from a standard-issue British Army rifle grenade.
The brass lower section bears perfectly legible and exceptionally sharp original engravings: “THE COTTON POWDER CO. LTD LONDON.”
The finely adjusted brass upper mechanism still includes its original friction wheel and wick.
The item features a superb natural antique patina and has not undergone any modern abrasive restoration.
