Pair Of Beaded Children's Loafers
Plains Nations, North America
Early 20th century
Leather, glass beads, and fabric
Length: 11 cm
A pair of small moccasins intended for a young child, the uppers entirely adorned with dense light blue beading. The geometric design features cross-shaped motifs and small compositions of red, white, and dark blue beads. A matching beaded band extends along the sides.
The ankle straps, made of finely worked light-colored leather, are edged with red beads and feature drawstrings. The interior is lined with patterned red fabric. The soles are made of red-dyed leather and show signs of wear.
The shape and decoration are characteristic of the Plains Nations.
