Wooden Fetish Statue From Tikar, Cameroon
A rare Tikar statue from Cameroon; the Tikar people primarily produce decorative terracotta and bronze statues as handicrafts, but ritual wooden statues are very rare. Here we have a large statue with a thick, oily, and cracked patina; note the remnants of feathers glued to the torso—likely from a chicken sacrifice!
. Antique statue with a few small chips and signs of wear (see photo); height 55 cm, and 68 cm including the woven and feathered headdress.
