Antique cast-iron boot scraper (also known as a shoe scraper or foot scraper), dating from the 19th century (the reign of Charles X / Louis-Philippe, circa 1830).
Located at the entrance to the house, it is used to remove mud from the soles of shoes, which collects in the raised-rimmed basin. This is the model featuring swan-neck supports for the foot scraper; the basin is edged with a godron frieze;
