Period Restored Tiered Desk in Light Mahogany – 19th Century

Very elegant small period stepped desk, restored, dating from the first half of the 19th century, crafted from light mahogany and mahogany veneer, accented with fine dark wood fillets.

This piece features exquisite cabinetmaking and particularly harmonious proportions. The front opens with a large waist drawer, framed by contrasting fillets and fitted with two bronze pull rings as well as a lock and key.

The top opens to reveal a pleasant work surface lined with antique green felt. When closed, it reveals a beautiful light mahogany veneer with warm grain patterns.

The upper section features a stepped shelf, supported on the sides by two curved posts. This design gives the desk a light and particularly elegant silhouette.

The base is remarkable: two side sections with double curved legs ending in scrolls, joined by a curved crossbar. The legs rest on glides also adorned with scrolls. The various elements are highlighted with dark wood moldings and inlays, creating a beautiful contrast with the light mahogany.

A lovely piece from the Restoration period, both decorative and functional, featuring fine craftsmanship and a very pleasing patina.
