Elegant solid mahogany Restoration period reading table or library desk, first half of the 19th century.
It stands on an elegant scrolled tripod base resting on three small turned legs. The hexagonal-shaped central column is encircled by a molded ring and receives a rectangular tray.
The top opens into two flip-up sections allowing tilting for reading or writing, revealing interior storage space. This type of furniture was used in libraries or study cabinets to consult books.
Very fine quality mahogany with a warm, luminous grain.
An elegant and practical model, characteristic of furniture from the Restoration period.
