A beautiful corner clock made of white Carrara marble and finely engraved gilded bronze.
A fruit basket with a damping mechanism.
A circular enameled dial with Arabic numerals indicating the hours and quarters, signed “Mercier à Paris.”
Delicate openwork hands.
Bezel with domed glass, decorated with fleurons, a beaded frieze, and a laurel garland.
Decorated with two Cupids: one, armed with his bow and quiver and accompanied by doves, embodies Love; the other, surrounded by the attributes of the Fine Arts, symbolizes artistic inspiration.
Oblong base with stepped sections and guilloché rosette panels.
Spinning-top feet, base with a pearl frieze.
Rear bezel made of domed glass.
Louis XVI period, late 18th century.
Height 35 cm, width 28 cm, depth 14 cm.
The winding key, the arrow, and the cupids’ blowpipes are missing.
The mechanism needs servicing.
