Vase With A Dragon, Cloisonné, Japan, Meiji Period (1868–1912).
Vase made using the cloisonné technique (enamel inlay on a copper vessel). The neck is decorated with a motif depicting a sinuous mythical dragon (Ryu), turquoise-green in color with a white belly, against a honey-brown enamel background sprinkled with gold and copper-colored glitter. The body is covered with rich plant and zoomorphic ornamentation (notably motifs of butterflies, birds, and flowers on a turquoise and yellow background). The lower part of the body is adorned with dense, sinuous plant motifs (arabesques).
