Patch Box In The Shape Of A Bucket With Handles, Polychrome Enamel, Staffordshire, Late 18th

Artist: Art Anglais
Small English enameled metal box, with a somewhat unusual shape reminiscent of a lidded tub with two handles.
This pretty patchbox could also be used as a snuff box or a small candy dish.
Itwas typically produced in the Staffordshire enamel workshops during the late 18th century, particularly in Battersea, Bilston, and their surrounding areas.
Decoration is hand-painted with polychrome enamels. The domed lid features a lively landscape invibrant hues, while body is adorned with stylized floral motifs.
The interior, glazed white, retains a clean appearance with a subtle network of craquelure,
The brass mounting, possibly originally silver-plated, attests to careful craftsmanship. I have not cleaned it.
Condition:
satisfactory, with few signs of use, no chips or noticeable scratches.
Dimensions: 5.6 ×3.2 cm.
Thisoriginal shape and its rustic painted decoration, from the Georgian era, are a true delight.
