17th-century Flanders Candleholder
A late 17th-century candlestick, typical of the Flemish style. It rests on a circular base that tapers upward to form a hexagonal shape; the turned shaft features a faceted section. A wide, hexagonal cup used to collect melted wax is topped by a screw-on, turned baluster-shaped spout finished with faceted edges. This candlestick consists of three parts:
- the base and shaft are joined by hammering
- the hexagonal cup, 11.5 cm wide
- the screw-on cap at the top of the shaft.
This candleholder is presented in its beautiful original patina; it has not been restored and shows no signs of warping or dents!
