Bronze Griffin Lion Dragon Candlestick, Renaissance Napoleon III, 19th Century
A bronze candlestick cast using the lost-wax technique, decorated with a tool depicting a griffin, a legendary and mythical creature found in several ancient cultures. Here, the griffin is largely composed of a lion's body (mouth, paws, tail, etc.). With its head tilted back, the animal holds a removable candle holder in its mouth, decorated with geometric and floral motifs. The curled tail allows for easy gripping of the candlestick. This piece is in the Renaissance style and dates from the Napoleon III period. It is well-crafted, in good condition, made of solid bronze, heavy, and very stable as it rests on four feet. Shipping available, carefully packaged and reinforced, sent by registered mail with insurance and tracking number for online tracking (shipping costs apply).
