Rare 18th Century Silver Spoon For General Farmers
Rare sugar spoon in solid silver from the 18th century. At that time, sugar remained the privilege of an elite. Around 1735, goldsmiths created a new utensil for sprinkling: the sugar spoon. The spoon is decorated with a country scene and fruits. The curved stem ends in a winding, it supports a mask with the head of a winged donkey and a pretty, very finely chiseled rooster! Hallmarks for general farmers employed in Dijon (Côte d'Or) under the direction of Jean-Jacques Prévost general farmer from 1762 to 1768
