Hand-carved shell cameo with a female profile in Renaissance-style costume. Her hair is gathered at the back and held by a finely worked hairnet, with three interlaced elements at the nape. A small bow or floral ornament decorates the front of the hairstyle.

Finely executed carving, with well-defined relief and careful treatment of the hairstyle, hairnet, and details of the dress.

Retaining its original gilt metal mount, worked along the border.
