Achille Ernest Mouret, Miniature, Portrait Of A Woman, Mid-19th Century
A miniature depicting a portrait of a woman, dressed simply and with a haughty air, seated in an armchair. The work is set in a painted ceramic frame with a floral design, adorned with a double frieze of pearls around the perimeter, relief flowers in the lower section, and ribbons in the upper section.
Signed “Mouret 1850.”
Achille Ernest Mouret (1817–1897) was a French photographer and painter who specialized in miniatures. Born into a family of artists, he exhibited regularly at the Salon between 1846 and 1890.
Gilding partially worn in places.
Good overall condition.
Dated to the mid-19th century.
