A magnificent early 19th-century ivory miniature from the extensive miniature collection of Professor Dr. E. Ullmann, Vienna (cataloged as a portrait of Grassi, no. 1097). Although unsigned, it exhibits all the stylistic characteristics that allow it to be attributed to the famous Austrian neoclassical miniaturist Josef (Giuseppe) Grassi (1757–1838).
