This monumental painting of Venice, featuring a view in front of the Bridge of Sighs, was created in 1874 by the highly renowned and esteemed French painter Gemain Fabius Brest (1823, Marseille – 1900, Marseille). A small study (18.5 cm x 15.0 cm) that is identical to our painting was offered for sale at the Rieunier & Associés S.A.R.L. auction house in Paris on March 19, 2012.
