Modernist Still Life By Jeanine Mestchian (armenian, School Of Paris, Circa 1930-1940)
Artist: Jeanine Mestchian
The classical modernist still life with a view of the garden was executed ca. 1930-1950 in the style of the famous School of Paris (in French: Ecole de Paris) by Jeanine Mestchian or Metschian (in Russian: Месчян), the artist of Armenian origin, who lived and worked in Paris in the first half of the 20th century. Despite the high quality of our painting, little is known about this artist of the so-called Lost Generation. Very brief references can be found in a single source (Saur's German artist register, AKL), where Metschian is listed as a painter in Paris, last mentioned in 1952.
