Helmet From The Indochina War, 1946–1954.

Early-production French Model 51 helmet, featuring a "CELORON DUROCHOC" liner from the Indochina War. Regarding the markings: In Indochina, the French Expeditionary Corps faced Viet Minh forces that were heavily supported, supplied, and equipped by Communist China (explaining the Chinese inscription). The Japanese marking (*Kijisu*) may stem from markings for identification purposes or as a historical trophy. This dual historical association—Chinese and Japanese (whether as a trophy or through reuse)—makes the item a true rarity on the market. Shows signs of use, as visible in the photos. - Japanese marking: This is the inscription キジス (*Kijisu*) in Katakana characters, written in white on a red disc reminiscent of the Rising Sun flag. Katakana is primarily used in Japanese to phonetically transcribe foreign words (such as Western surnames, first names, or place names). "Kijisu" is most likely the Japanese transliteration of a Western surname, such as "Keith" or "Keys." - Chinese marking: This is a handwritten inscription, read from right to left, indicating the soldier's name: 甘心才 (Gan Xincai). The stylized design beneath it resembles a Chinese character; it could potentially represent a unit designation, rank, or military symbol.
