A 19th-century engineer's bicorn hat from the Napoleonic era. Made of taupe-black felt with black moiré silk trim, a large tricolor cockade, and a black silk band embroidered with gold laurel leaves. The lower part of the hat is adorned with a hemispherical brass uniform button stamped with the Second Empire eagle surrounded by laurel branches, with an upper band inscribed "Ponts et Chaussées" (Bridges and Roads). The interior lining consists of a tobacco-colored calfskin band and an ivory silk lining. Good overall condition, hat shows signs of wear. Size 55 cm.
