INFANTRY OFFICER'S SWORD, PRESIDENCY OF LOUIS NAPOLEON BONAPARTE. Brass hilt. Single-branch guard decorated with Jupiter's thunderbolt. Oval-shaped quillon decorated with the uncrowned imperial eagle perched on a trophy of six infantry flags bearing the eagle. Pommel decorated with an imperial eagle with outstretched wings. Folding counter-guard. Leather grip with brass wire inlay. Straight, double-edged blade, 90.5 cm long, 74.5 cm blade. Good condition with signs of use, blade marked "coulaux klingenthal" with a gray patina and minor oxidation.
