An elegant pair of French Empire-style candlesticks, crafted in the early decades of the 19th century from fine red porphyry and embellished with refined, finely chiseled and gilded bronze mounts. The bodies, shaped like classical vases, rest on square porphyry bases and are supported by bronze pedestals decorated with acanthus leaves. Two refined, volute-shaped candle arms extend from the central body, richly adorned with plant motifs and rosettes, and ending in elegant, finely chiseled bobèches and candle holders.
