Kazak rug known as the "Kazak with Eagles," originating from the Caucasus near the Karabakh region.

What is striking about this design are the shades it displays—brown, rust, golden yellow, and cream—colors that carpets known as Kazak, Chelaberd, Tjelaberd, or Tchalabert, rarely, if ever, feature.
The colors typically used are red, blue, and white, but rugs of this type can also be found in brown, red, gray, or with numerous shades of blue.
The carpets with unusual color schemes likely belong to the oldest group of this type, and it appears that simpler, more unadorned patterns are an indicator of age.

## The last photo shows the Adler motif as it appears today, which differs from its original form as presented in our model.
These rugs are called “Eagle Kazak,” “Adler” in German, “Coat-of-Arms Kazak,” or even “Saber Kazak.”
The designs are typical of this genre and are therefore highly recognizable among the many patterns found in Caucasian and Armenian rugs.
It is therefore impossible to confuse them.
Some see in them the figurative flight of an eagle, crossed sabers, or ancient coats of arms that remind us of the double-headed eagle of the former Russian and German empires.

Seychour rugs also feature a very sophisticated, typical design resembling a stylized bird, yet their geographical place of production is much closer to the Caspian Sea.
In the field of this piece, we find three eagles—two in rust-colored tones with yellow decoration and one in golden yellow at the center with rust-colored interior decoration— while the rest is adorned in a whimsical and random pattern with stylized flowers, and there are three “Z” or “S” symbols—representing light and God—which are more commonly inscribed within hexagons.
The border features a pattern of horizontal “S” shapes resembling the Georgian border known as the “running dog,” which is found on many Caucasian pieces, running parallel to the outer border, which itself presents what is likely a variation of the zigzag-line eyelet border—a symbol of water and eternity.

At the entrance of the rug, and on one side only, are five large stylized flower motifs as a sign of welcome.
A tradition found on virtually all Caucasian rugs.
A beautiful antique rug; while it does show some wear, particularly on one side, it remains a stunning testament to these regions and a true artifact of centuries-old, ancestral craftsmanship.
