Rare silk Ghoum (Qom) rug – Signed Sharifi – Persian hunting scene – Circa 1980

A magnificent and rare Ghoum (Qom) rug, entirely hand-knotted in silk, made around 1980. This exceptional piece is signed Sharifi, a signature visible in the upper part of the central field, attesting to its origin and the quality of his workshop.

The design depicts a sumptuous Persian royal hunting scene, one of the most prestigious themes in the art of carpet weaving. Against an elegant sky-blue background, several richly dressed horsemen gallop in pursuit of gazelles, hares, and birds. The finely rendered horses convey remarkable dynamism, while the stylized vegetation, flowers, and animals create a refined landscape inspired by Persian miniatures.

The wide powder-pink border, lavishly adorned with flowers, birds, and plant motifs, harmoniously frames the central composition and highlights the exceptional finesse of the weaving.

Made entirely of silk, this rug features a very high knot density, resulting in great precision in the details, delicate colors, and remarkable luminosity. It is in perfect condition; it has been professionally cleaned and is ready for display.
