Louis XV-era Jewelry Box Set

A rare Louis XV-era cabinet known as a “jewelry box.” Mid-18th century. It rests on four curved legs joined by a crossbar. It opens via a drawer on the right side and a lid. The interior features a mercury mirror and two compartments, one of which is inlaid. The frame and panels are made of oak. This box is inlaid on all sides with violet wood arranged in a grain-and-counter-grain pattern to form butterfly-wing and fern motifs, alternating with fillets. Bronze fittings include clamps, a lock plate, a knob, and a rosette. The lock (replaced) is functional and comes with a very beautiful key. Note: there are signs of previous restorations. Recent buffed varnish finish.
