Set Of 4 Louis XVI-era Lyre Chairs In Lacquered Wood And Silk Velvet
An elegant set of four lyre-back chairs in lacquered wood, featuring fluted legs with rounded edges and finely carved rosettes set into the connecting blocks. Newly reupholstered in the traditional manner with horsehair and covered in emerald green Peking silk velvet. Parisian craftsmanship from the Louis XVI period, reminiscent of Séné’s designs. Circa 1785.
A beautiful set, very luminous.
Very good condition, with typical period restorations; re-lacquered and re-patinated; new upholstery, covered in this beautiful antique silk velvet that remained in mint condition and had never been used before being installed on these chairs.
