Set of 5 walnut straw chairs from the Directoire period with finely carved boards in bas-relief decorated with profiles wearing helmets in the antique style, identified in the pediments: Dolon, J Caesar, Achilles, Perseus and Patroclus! The names evoke a mixed heroic pantheon: • Achilles, Patroclus, Dolon: Greek heroes of the Trojan War. • Perseus: Greek mythological hero. • Caesar: Roman historical figure, who introduces a more historical than heroic touch. This heterogeneous association could reflect a decorative desire rather than a strictly mythological logic. Backrests with gendarmes' hats, sheathed feet.
