Set Of 4 Provençal Straw Chairs In Fruit Wood, 19th Century

Set of 4 superb Provençal chairs in fruit wood, 19th century, with sheaf backs. The rear uprights are topped with fine bobeches. The front legs are turned in a baluster shape and the lower side bars are connected by a turned wooden crosspiece. Backrest with a gendarme hat with a superb sheaf in the center. The front of the chairs is strongly curved and decorated with a wide, purely Provençal fretwork band. The straw is recent but made in the old-fashioned way: with very tight and very solid straw. These chairs are in very good condition. They are light, very solid and perfectly aesthetic. Height: 88.7 cm. Seat: Height: 43.5 cm, Width: 42.1 cm, Depth: 40.5 cm. Backrest: Height: 46 cm.
