Louis XVI-style Console Table With Gilded Bronze And Marble Inlay
An elegant Louis XVI-style sideboard, crafted from light-colored and stained wood veneers, embellished with extensive marquetry and gilded bronze trim.
Rectangular in shape with a slightly curved front and beveled corners, this piece features a drawer at the top and a door on the front. The interior features storage space with two shelves, allowing it to be used as a sideboard, small cabinet, living room piece, or display cabinet.
The central door is adorned with a marquetry composition depicting a trophy in the 18th-century style. It features a quiver filled with arrows, a bow, a torch, knotted ribbons, and various decorative elements gathered beneath a ribbon bow. The composition stands out against a herringbone-veneered background, accented by light-colored fillets.
The side panels, drawer, and side walls are decorated with burl wood or reddish-brown stained wood panels, framed by marquetry fillets. The drawer features a circular medallion in the center, surrounded by a gilded bronze laurel wreath.
The piece is lavishly embellished with Louis XVI-style bronze fittings: foliage motifs on the corners, ribbon friezes, rosettes, molded frames, garlands, and acanthus motifs beneath the lower crossbar.
It is topped with a veined white marble top, encircled by an openwork gilt-bronze rail. The piece rests on four straight, slightly tapered legs.
