Laos, early 19th century or earlier; an ancient, superb, and rare bronze Buddha statue, depicted seated in a monk’s robe, eyes closed, his face reflecting a deep inner serenity, hands in the “bhumisparsa mudra” posture, and his head topped with the unisha typical of this region.
Beautiful dark green patina.
This piece is notable for having been mounted on a red-lacquered wooden base, which further enhances its beauty.
In good condition, aside from slight, normal wear that does not affect its appearance.
Dimensions: Total height 20.8 (cm) – 14.8 (cm) without the base.
