Large Dogs Of Fô
Pair of large Fô dogs made of earthenware with a glossy green glaze reminiscent of the traditional Sancai style (three colors).
These are mythological guardian creatures from the Chinese Buddhist tradition.
They are traditionally placed in pairs at the entrance to buildings or homes to ward off evil spirits and protect the premises.
They are in perfect condition except for a barely visible chip on the bottom of one of the bases and a firing flaw on the hind leg of one dog.(see the last 2 photos)
They are a good size; the rectangular base measures 20 cm wide and 27 cm long.
The total height of the dog is 41 cm.
