An elegant, curved chest of drawers with all sides finished in violet wood veneer arranged in a curly pattern and interlaced leaves, richly accented with light-colored wood fillets forming Greek fret frames.
The front features four drawers arranged in three rows, with the two upper drawers separated by a central post adorned with gilded bronze lock plates.

The piece has a particularly harmonious silhouette, with a strongly curved front and sides, characteristic of Parisian furniture from the first half of the 18th century.
The side panels are decorated with superb inlays of violet wood veneer featuring radiating geometric patterns, showcasing remarkable marquetry work.

The chest of drawers is topped with a magnificent original Brocatelle marble top, in shades of red, pink, ochre, and cream, perfectly molded to follow the lines of the piece.
This decorative stone, particularly sought after in the 18th century, provides a refined contrast to the warmth of the veneer.

The rich ornamentation of chiseled and gilded bronze includes:

• large openwork corner finials with foliage scrolls;
• dynamic pull handles.
• finely chiseled rocaille lock plates;
• wrapping-style lock plates;
• an imposing central clasp beneath the lower crossbar.

All of the bronzework, featuring exceptionally fine chiseling, elegantly highlights the curves of the piece while maintaining a perfect sense of lightness.

The drawers are fitted with dovetail joints and feature fine interior craftsmanship, consistent with the work of the great Parisian workshops.

The chest bears the MONDON mark on the base, attributable to Jean Mondon, an 18th-century Parisian master cabinetmaker whose works are prized for the quality of their veneers, the elegance of their proportions, and the refinement of their bronze fittings.

The piece is in excellent condition, having undergone a meticulous restoration using traditional techniques.
The varnish beautifully highlights the spectacular grain of the violetwood and the depth of its hues.
