A beautiful antique rug from the first half of the 20th century, 1900–1920.
It measures 115 cm wide by 152 cm long and is made of high-quality wool-on-wool.
Originating from Iran, it is in good condition with slight wear.
The light camel and brown colors of the field provide a luminous contrast against the midnight blue background.
The beautifully complex design, resembling a tanned hide pattern featuring two large medallions, reveals numerous stylized tribal and botanical motifs.
The border consists of oak leaves alternating with stylized flowers, gracefully adorning the entire perimeter with great elegance.
The mixed-fiber fringes are in good condition; they often include goat, sheep, and camel wool, as well as horsehair.
These blends are found in most ethnic rugs from Iran, Central Asia, and the Caucasus.
The muted, earthy colors contrast with the lighter shades—indigo, white, pink, and orange—set against the darker field, creating a striking contrast.
These rugs are primarily dyed with natural, mineral, and plant-based dyes.
