An IV-type hussar saber, fitted with a curved, rigid officer’s blade engraved one-third of the way up, with gilded mountings; it is adorned with a charging hussar and marked “Vivat hussar,” above which is “Recte Faciendo Nemiem Timeas”; the back is signed in gold lettering “Jean Knech the Younger, manufacturer in Solingen”; Wooden scabbard covered in leather with two large brass fittings, iron tip, broken and missing scabbard stud; the leather may be a later addition; total length: 97.5 cm. Good condition; one scabbard stud and the rigid blade are missing.
