Large Chocolate Cup And Saucer, Paris Porcelain—nast Manufactory—empire Period
Known as the “jasmine” shape. The cup features a flared rim and rests on a widened base accented by a molded band. The raised, coiled handle is attached at the top beneath the rim and to the body by a clasp decorated with a stylized palmette. The slightly flared saucer rests on a high foot with a grooved rim.
HARD porcelain.
The cup has a white interior decorated with a landscape in shades of brown and gray, rendered in the style of an engraving.
The body is entirely adorned with a continuous landscape scene depicting a rural setting composed of trees, rolling hills, and architectural elements. In the foreground are small figures, such as fishermen or walkers.
The matching saucer repeats this design as a circular landscape frieze, framing the reserved center area, which is centered with a radiating gold motif. Wide gold fillets along the rims.
