A large Impressionist coastal landscape at sunset, attributed to the famous Austrian landscape painter and portraitist Eduard Kasparides (1858–1926).
From 1876 to 1884, the artist studied at the Vienna Academy under the tutelage of J.M. Trenkwald. Kasparides undertook study trips to Italy, Germany, Sweden, and Russia. He was a member of the Artists’ Society and the Hagenbund (1900–1905), where he frequently exhibited his works. Beginning in 1899, Kasparides painted primarily Impressionist landscapes, as evidenced by the painting on offer. He received numerous international awards and medals, and in 1932 became a professor at the Vienna Artists’ Association.
