Gabriel Dieudonné Victor Augizeau is a painter known for his landscape paintings of Vendée and the Pays des Olonnes.
The Augizeau family settled around 1905-1910 in Les Sables-d'Olonne, taking over a café on rue Printanière, which also sold delicatessen. Gabriel Augizeau, who showed early on a predisposition for drawing, gave up the business to devote himself entirely to painting, transforming the premises into a painting studio.
Most of the year, he worked in his studio. But in the summer, he settled into his "cabin" which opened onto the embankment. The port, the sailing boats, the ferryman in the channel were the painter's favorite subjects. The coastline too, including the wild coast of Château-d'Olonne with the famous Pain de Sucre and the Île Saint-Jean.
