"Sailboats Near The Coasts. émile Gauffriaud."
Georges-Émile Gauffriaud is a French painter, engraver, watercolorist, and lithographer born in Sézanne, Marne, in 1877. Émile Gauffriaud enjoys capturing moods, character, and atmosphere. The artist resolutely chooses to paint his homeland, the sea, and boats. His favorite subjects include a few landscapes, Breton, of course, but sometimes also those of Limoges. He made several trips to the Côte d'Azur, returning with canvases and watercolors bathed in the midday light. Gauffriaud's wife and then daughter sold his paintings in their art gallery in Le Pouliguen. He enjoyed some success as a regional artist.
