PARIS porcelain PLATE "IL EST DIFFICILE A FERRER"—Manufacture de HONORE et CIE—Early 19th century
The plate is decorated with a scene in shades of brown on an ivory background, rendered in the style of an engraving, depicting a farrier assisted by two figures, working around a horse tethered at the entrance to a stable, in a scene of shoeing. The wing features a green background, adorned with a radiating design composed of stylized motifs of lotus flowers, spearheads, and acorns, arranged in a fan pattern. The basin is framed by a wide gold border, while the rim is highlighted by a gilded border.
Mark(s): Stenciled in red: "ED. HONORE & CIE PARIS,"
The reverse bears the inscription painted in gold with a brush: "IL EST DIFFICILE A FERRER,"
