EARLY 18TH CENTURY VERY LARGE and RARE Engraving - Genealogy of the Natural branch of the left side of the House of Bourbon, accompanied by the arms and alliances of some of the princes mentioned in this genealogy with remarks to serve the story, accompanied by views of Meudon, Versailles, Saint Germain en Laye, Fontainebleau. Very large impressive engraving decorated with numerous vignettes representing the French castles of Meudon, Versailles, Saint-Germain-en-Laye and Fontainebleau, with a descriptive text. Henri Abraham Chatelain, although a Huguenot pastor, is better known for his remarkable contributions to cartography and engraving. This type of engraving, rich in details and annotations, had an educational function. Chatelain sought to convey historical, geographical and cultural information, which explains the addition of the descriptive text. This allowed a literate public of his time to better understand and visualize these prestigious places, while admiring their grandeur. Engraved with a burin on steel.
