Baluster Vase - Paris Porcelain - Ep. Debut XIXe
Baluster-shaped, resting on a circular pedestal itself set on a quadrangular base. The slightly flared neck is preceded by a pronounced constriction at the shoulder, structuring the silhouette. It is fitted with two scrolled side handles, decorated with stylized foliage, attached by ties featuring plant elements in relief.
On a gold background, each side features a large rectangular reserve with polychrome decoration.
On the first side, an animal scene featuring a deer - a young stag - accompanied by a second reclining animal, probably a doe, in a wooded landscape structured by slender trees and architecture in the background, evoking a park or private estate setting. The second side features a lively pastoral scene: two goats are depicted in the foreground, in a verdant landscape. In the background, a light construction such as a pavilion or animal park shelter is set in a wooded environment, completed by a fence.
The entire vase is very richly enhanced with full gilding, covering the neck, shoulder, base and handles, with in places alternating matte and burnished gilding work, creating a contrast with the polychrome reserves.
