Oil on canvas depicting a chalk cliff path overlooking a sea in turquoise and deep green tones, a distant coastline glimpsed on the horizon beneath a hazy sky. The foreground, rendered in broad impasto touches, contrasts with the atmospheric blending of the background, in a fairly free manner of depicting the coastal motif for its time.

Arsène-Marie Le Feuvre, a decorative painter from the Sarthe region, distinguished himself mainly as an eclectic artist working between Art Nouveau and Art Deco, and as a public figure in Le Mans, of which he was mayor from 1925 to 1931. While his best-known work remains the "Bébé Cadum" advertising poster, he also practised landscape painting, as this coastal view attests.

The wooden frame bears on its reverse a preparatory study of the same subject, along with a partially legible pencil inscription.

The canvas is in good condition.

Öl auf Leinwand, einen Kreidefelsenweg über einem Meer in Türkis- und Tiefgrüntönen darstellend, mit einer fernen Küstenlinie am Horizont unter diesigem Himmel. Der in breiten Impasto-Zügen gestaltete Vordergrund kontrastiert mit der atmosphärischen Verschmelzung des Hintergrunds, in einer für ihre Zeit recht freien Art der Darstellung des Küstenmotivs.

Arsène-Marie Le Feuvre, ein Dekorationsmaler aus der Sarthe, machte sich vor allem als eklektischer Künstler zwischen Art nouveau und Art déco sowie als öffentliche Persönlichkeit in Le Mans einen Namen, dessen Bürgermeister er von 1925 bis 1931 war. Sein bekanntestes Werk bleibt zwar das Werbeplakat "Bébé Cadum", doch er widmete sich auch der Landschaftsmalerei, wie diese Küstenansicht belegt.

Der Holzrahmen trägt auf der Rückseite eine vorbereitende Studie desselben Motivs sowie eine teilweise lesbare Bleistiftinschrift.

Die Leinwand befindet sich in gutem Erhaltungszustand.

Olio su tela raffigurante un sentiero su una scogliera calcarea che domina un mare dai toni turchese e verde profondo, con una costa lontana intravista all'orizzonte sotto un cielo velato. Il primo piano, reso con ampi tocchi impastati, contrasta con la fusione atmosferica dello sfondo, in una maniera piuttosto libera di rappresentare il motivo costiero per l'epoca.

Arsène-Marie Le Feuvre, pittore decoratore originario della Sarthe, si distinse principalmente come artista eclettico tra Art Nouveau e Art Déco, e come figura pubblica di Le Mans, di cui fu sindaco dal 1925 al 1931. Se la sua opera più celebre resta il manifesto pubblicitario del "Bébé Cadum", si dedicò anche alla pittura di paesaggio, come testimonia questa veduta costiera.

La cornice in legno reca sul retro uno studio preparatorio dello stesso soggetto, insieme a un'iscrizione a matita parzialmente leggibile.

La tela è in buono stato di conservazione.
