An exceptional, rare, and monumental large-scale art glass vase from the famous and prestigious Daum Nancy factory circa 1911 under the artistic leadership of Antonin Daum (1864-1930) during the golden era of the Art Nouveau movement.
This museum-quality piece stands out for the technical virtuosity of its craftsmanship in multi-layered blown glass. The body features a marbled background and an intermediate layer with beautifully blended shades, ranging from a luminous saffron yellow at the top to deep mauve, violet, and brown hues toward the pedestal base.
The rich, naturalistic spiral design is entirely etched in relief. It depicts, with great sensitivity, poplar (álamo) branches and leaves that elegantly envelop the neck and body of the vase. The contrasts between the opacity of the leaves and the translucency of the background create stunning magic-lantern effects when held up to the light.
The work bears the signature engraved in cameo within the design: "Daum ‡ Nancy" along with the Cross of Lorraine. A monumental piece, exceptionally rare due to its size of nearly 60 cm, a must-have for serious collectors of the École de Nancy.
