Important 17th-century Louis XIII chest of drawers in walnut

A beautiful and authentic Louis XIII chest of drawers in solid walnut, dating from the 17th century, featuring a simple and elegant design as well as exceptional craftsmanship.

It opens with a large, richly molded door, adorned in the center with a remarkable sunburst motif, framed by scalloped panels characteristic of Louis XIII furniture. The sides are paneled and decorated with molded lozenges, while the bold, overhanging cornice emphasizes the elegance of its proportions.

The interior, entirely original, is lined with its original wallpaper and fitted with several shelves offering ample storage space. The chest of drawers also features a lower front drawer, which retains its beautiful wrought-iron drop handle. The chest lock is original, as are the wrought-iron hinges and antique hardware. It rests on four original ball feet.

Crafted from solid walnut, this chest of drawers features a superb antique patina—warm and luminous—and is in excellent condition, with the marks of time attesting to its authenticity.

With its beautiful proportions, the quality of its decoration, and its remarkable original condition, this chest of drawers will naturally find its place in a home of character, a castle, or a significant collection of antique furniture.
