Important Alsatian wedding armoire from the Louis XV period - XVIIIᵉ century
Large Alsatian wedding armoire with two doors, Louis XV period, work from Eastern France, Strasbourg region, XVIIIᵉ century.
It is made of walnut and features a remarkable decoration in several wood species with burr veneer and fillet marquetry forming diamond-shaped reserves on the leaves. The upper part is adorned with an inlaid frieze with stylized plant decoration evoking the traditional compositions of Eastern wedding cabinets.
The facade is structured by a central fluted pilaster separating the two doors, bringing elegance and balance to the whole.
Very fine original ironwork including long cut-out lock escutcheons, forged plugs, antique espagnolette lock and its period key, particularly meticulous forge work.
The interior features its antique layout with shelves and drawers.
Very beautiful large regional cabinet, typical of 18thᵉ century Alsatian furniture, displaying a rich decorative presence and high quality craftsmanship.
