Christophe Fratin(Metz, 1801–1864) was a French sculptor who specialized inanimal subjects. Between 1831 and 1842, he participated in numerous Parisian Salons.Early in his career, he assisted his father—a taxidermist by trade—thereby acquiring a thorough knowledge of animal anatomy, which helater incorporated into his sculptures.The work bears themark of the foundry Daubrée, a firm active in France during the firsthalf of the 19th century.
