An elegant portrait of a lady of high social standing, painted by an artist of the French School in the early 18th century.
With its delicate rendering of skin tones, the simplicity of its composition, and the elegance of the pose, this work follows in the tradition of the great Parisian portraiture of the late reign of Louis XIV and the early Regency, exemplified notably by Hyacinthe Rigaud.
