Samurai half-mask, known as a “Mempo,” made of wrought iron and lacquered in cinnabar red.
It features a prominent chin, a movable nose, a large brown horsehair mustache, pierced nostrils, a fastening pin for the kabuki cord, and a sweat hole under the chin.
The interior is lacquered red (the color red was meant to inspire courage and conceal blood).
“Yodare-kake” (neck guard) with four tiers lacquered in gold and woven with blue and purple silk; the reverse side is lacquered in glossy black, and the top tier is lacquered in gold.
