Empire-period mercury-gilt bronze clock featuring a superb original matte and burnished gold finish. It depicts Cupid, the God of Love, holding an arrow, accompanied by a quiver and bow; other motifs include a torch within a laurel wreath, a butterfly frieze (an Empire symbol), floral garlands, and columns topped with flaming urns.
A magnificent floral urn—visited by two butterflies—adorns the front of the clock's plinth.
Silk-suspension movement, serviced by a clockmaker and complete with pendulum and key. Enamel dial with a minor restoration near the numeral VIII; original Breguet-style hands.
